How to self improve, when all you want to do is chill
2020 has been one wild ride. For one, it has taught us to be grateful for a lot of things (and people) and that life is short. It has also taught us that there is a lot of amazing content out there, and that one must absolutely prioritize mental health. It also has allowed us to search introspectively.
For me, like many companies, we've suffered because of the economy. Which results in me working late, and long hours without a work life balance. So what happens, when you're exhausted from a long work day, and want to work on creative projects that result in you being in the same location, staring at the same computer, in the same creative work space? That's where I'm at right now.
I've been lucky enough to have created my life the way I want. I have a creative job, and I hold a high position that allows me to make all the decisions. I've worked my butt off my entire life for it to be that way. But how does one balance everything?
For the past two nights, I've been off my game again. I notice that when I go to bed later, even if I get a similar amount of hours in, I don't feel as rested. However, I was up watching a whole bunch of lovely content that felt super satisfying.
But what I need to get through to basically myself, is that...Time stops for no one. Life is absolutely about balance, so make sure you're taking care of yourself, too. But at the end of the day it's been 10 months that we've been in quarantine, and we at least have another 6 months to go. So if there's something you want, something you want to work toward, if you'd like to get fit, or finish your book (like me!) the time is still now. However satisfying watching a show will be, it's still not what's going to get you to where you want to be. It's December 2020, get to work my loves.
So before I leave you this is what I'd like for you to think about:
What do you want?
What do you need to do to get there?
Write down that goal and 3-5 actionable steps to get there.
Give yourself a reasonable by when date.
You've got this!
